Alumni Support Coordinator / Office Administrator Needed in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

United TESOL International College of Teacher Training Inc. is seeking to employ a new Alumni Support Coordinator / Office Administrator to work out of our Ottawa office location in Ottawa Canada. United TESOL is a small privately owned college offering specialized training and courses in second language teaching methodology to new and aspiring ESL teachers. We have two office locations in Ottawa. One in the heart of the ByWard Market downtown Ottawa, and the other within the University of Ottawa Campus student Center building also downtown Ottawa.
Applicants must currently reside in Ottawa, Canada or be willing to move to Ottawa with very short notice. The position starts early June 2013. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada with no exceptions as no visa sponsorship can be provided. (Applicants must be a Canadian Citizen with a proper social insurance number, or be eligible to obtain a working holiday visa to work in Canada via the working holiday visa program) (Australian, British, Irish and New Zealand citizens are eligible for the working holiday visa program)
The position begins early June 2013.
Qualifications required:
Candidates must have experience teaching English as a second language internationally, (Outside of their home country). The ideal candidate will have over 3 years of ESL teaching experience in at least three separate countries but this is not essential. International travel experience in multiple countries is also considered a valuable asset as alumni support coordinators are often expected to educate graduates on the cultural differences of various ESL teaching locations. Experience teaching ESL domestically or internationally is also considered.
Essential: Alumni support coordinators must have had a positive experience teaching ESL abroad and be sincerely passionate about the benefits of pursuing a career in second language teaching abroad. Alumni support coordinators should have a natural ability to inspire graduates to live their best life by pursuing the field of ESL teaching.

This is a contract position from June 2013 to November 2013. Following the completion of the Six Month probationary training period, successful candidates shall be considered for full time employment positions within a variety of positions within the college. (Teacher Trainer, International Practicum Program Coordinator position with United TESOL in Costa Rica (January 2014 to April 2014), academic director, General Manager.
Alumni Support Duties Include but are not limited to:
International Resume writing and assistance:
United TESOL offers graduates unlimited alumni support post program. As an alumni support coordinator with United TESOL College, candidates would be responsible to meet with graduates and alumni via scheduled appointments to assist them in writing and editing their international teaching resumes.
International Job Pursuit Process assistance and mentoring:
United TESOL prides itself on offering one of the most extensive alumni support service packages available with any TESOL course provider. As such, alumni support coordinators are expected to go above and beyond in assisting our graduates with the entire job pursuit process. Job pursuit alumni support is offered via multiple venues and as a coordinator, one would be expected to offer such guidance in person, via email, or over the telephone depending on the individual client’s preference and schedule. Familiarity with various international ESL job boards and effective job pursuit strategies as they relate to the ESL industry are essential to this role.
Contract Negotiation and guidance
As an alumni support coordinator with United TESOL, one would be responsible for reviewing all ESL teaching contract offers presented to our graduates. Assistance in negotiating ESL job offers and contracts is included in our alumni support package and is essential to ensuring the individual success of each of our graduates.
Knowledge and experience in reviewing ESL teaching contracts is an asset but not essential as training and support in this area shall be provided on an ongoing basis.
Work Visa requirements
Alumni support coordinators provide graduates with information and guidance with regards to the various steps involved in obtaining a work visa to teach ESL in a variety of countries. Alumni support coordinators are expected to inform themselves on a regular basis of all such requirements by contacting the consular affairs office of the local Embassies to ensure accuracy and clarity in the information being provided.
Marketing and Promotions:
Alumni support coordinators are required to meet with prospective students to discuss any questions students may have about teaching ESL abroad or our programs and services. Students are most often interested in hearing about our employees personal stories and experience in teaching abroad and as such it is essential that the alumni support coordinator has actually taught ESL overseas.
Office Administrative Duties:
Assist in managing the registration of new students from processing payments, to managing students financial accounts and records. Respond to all email inquires, telephone inquires and general day to day office administrative duties.
Social Media knowledge and or willingness to learn:
Individuals with either personal or business experience working with the variety of social media platforms are encouraged to mention their comfort level in working on building United TESOL’s social media presence.
Language Proficiency:
Advanced Proficiency in both English and French are considered an asset as candidates seeking to work from our University of Ottawa campus shall be required to offer services in both English and French as per the university of Ottawa’s bilingual service agreement.
