Academics is offering the opportunity for a western trained teachers to work as an English/ESL teacher in government secondary school in Brunei from June 2012.
You will be delivering the British curriculum to local secondary aged children at Key Stage 3 and 4 (Years 7 to 11) .
You will work on a contract till December 2013 with a renewable option available. Brunei government schools follow a southern hemisphere academic year (early January to November, four terms). Salaries are between £1700/$2700AUD to £2800/$4200AUD per month tax free. Salaries are based on years of experience and level of qualification one holds.
Your package also includes the following
Furnished accommodation
Subsidised private health care (free government health care for children under 12 and pregnant women)
Heavily subsidised private education for up to two children (three children for a teaching couple)
Car allowance
Return flight and baggage allowance (also for a married spouse and 2 children for those travelling with family members)
$500BN settling in allowance
In country orientation (includes Malay language training)
Work visa
End of contract gratuity (2 months per year worked)
Essential Criteria
1. Hold a western passport and have English as your first spoken language
2. Hold a secondary teaching qualification in the form of a B.Ed/Dip Ed/Dip Teaching/PGCE from either the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland or Canada. Ideally you will be a qualified English, Linguistics or Humanities/Social Studies teacher but other subject areas will be considered.
3. Have 12 months experience teaching in an ESL environment. (TESOL, TEFOL or CELTA qualification preferable but not essential)
4. A minimum of three years full time classroom teaching experience (must be post qualified experience).
5. Must be under 55 years of age at the time you start your placement.
6. You must be available to arrive in Brunei to start during June 2012.
